I cannot stitch. Something
about the movement of thread
through substance. Something
about the simultaneous tapping
of my foot and the rise and fall
of the needle. I fear it too much.
So, if there are rips and tears,
if the cord comes undone, I’m
not the one to sweep in. I can
only stand by and watch.
